Leadership Program at Music Box allows students in grades 3-9 to coach and mentor their less experienced peers:
- Mentors apply for the program and if chosen to participate, get to mentor several lower grade students, and develop their leadership, communications and emotional intelligence skills. They also get to practice teaching the material they have already mastered and get an opportunity to share their experiences and best practices with their mentees.
- Mentees apply for the program and if chosen to participate, are assigned a Mentor. They get to learn from a peer, ask them questions, bond with other musicians and continue to learn in a safe, positive and fun setting.
- Mentors meet with mentees once a month for 30 minutes. The sessions are facilitated by a Music Box instrument department head.
This program is offered by Music Box as a complimentary unit to both a Mentor’s and Mentee’s curriculum.
