Music Box School Policies

Admission

We offer trial lessons and school tours free of charge, by appointment. Students are welcome to choose between the on-line, in-person or hybrid instruction. Every student’s information is processed through the system, and each student is issued a personalized web portal. A new-student-assessment is administered at the time of the first lesson, in which our educator determines and records the initial skill level as student’s “baseline”. Music Box charges a one- time $25 application fee at the time of enrollment.

Lesson Durations and Cadence

Typically, lessons are offered once a week: individual lessons are 30 minutes in duration, while group lessons are 45 minutes, and Band lessons are 60 minutes. Advanced instruction may require longer lesson durations and will be personalized to each student’s learning needs and goals.

Tuition, Fees and Payment Terms

There is NO CONTRACT requirement with Music Box, only your acknowledgement and agreement to these school policies.

Payments are due at the first week of each month, prior to your regularly scheduled lesson. Monthly tuition may fluctuate depending on the number of lessons within that month.

First month’s tuition will be prorated at the time of enrollment through the end of the current month.

Payments are accepted online (preferred) and in person by cash, personal check, debit or credit card. Online (self-service) payments will not incur a convenience fee.

Late payments will automatically incur a 2% surcharge on the balance due (late fee), weekly. We encourage you to set up and utilize the automatic payment process through our website.

Students are required to purchase their own instruments, however, students may come and practice on Music Box instruments at the school at no additional cost, by appointment.

Music Box offers several standard discounts, please contact us for details. Another way you can reduce your monthly tuition is to participate in our seasonal promotional and "Refer a Friend” programs.

Materials, testing and other fees may apply.

Class Schedule, Cancellation and Re-Schedules

Lesson schedule is initially established at the mutual convenience of the student and their leading educator at the time of enrollment.

Any reschedules and cancellations should be made via info@musicboxinc.com or (901) 626-0973.

We allow for 2 schedule changes per trimester (3 month period, beginning on the first of January, April, July, or October). Changes should be made at least 24 hours in advance, when possible, to receive a lesson credit. No-shows or notifications in less than 2 hours before the lesson scheduled start time, will not receive any lesson credits, as educators are present for the lesson, and hence will be paid by the school. As a courtesy to our Educators, we ask that you advise the school of any upcoming absences in advance. Make up credits expire in 30 days.

To minimize the no-shows and cancellations, we offer several convenient alternative ways for you to take your lesson at your lesson time:
1) You can take a virtual lesson from your current location. All Music Box instruction rooms ar equipped with video and streaming capabilities.
2) You can send it your friend or a family member in your stead.
3) You can request a video of your lesson made by the educator and uploaded or e-mailed to you. These are very convenient and can be shared and taken / re-taken at your own pace.

Please remember that consistency and regular lesson attendance is key to your learning journey and success at Music Box. After 2 consecutive no-shows without communication, Music Box will automatically take the student off the schedule.

In the event that Music Box initiates your lesson change (inclement weather, major holiday, educator absent, school-wide event, etc.), the student is guaranteed a lesson credit. Same lesson format options are available for this credit redemption (in-person, video, virtual, and gifting).

Lesson times are set, hence no class overtime is offered to students if they are late for their lesson.

There will be no make up credits offered for missing your Band lessons or other group instruction programs, unless these have to be re-scheduled for everyone by Music Box. Students are asked to recognize that they have an obligation to their fellow band members and should make every effort to attend all scheduled sessions / practices / rehearsals.

Withdrawals and Terminations

If you decide to withdraw from education at Music Box, please communicate your decision by calling the school and indicating the reason for withdrawal, before the 25th of the month.

No refunds for the current month of instruction will be awarded. We encourage you to utilize all of your remaining lesson credits and provide us with your most candid feedback, as this is the only way we can improve.

Please note: Music Box does not guarantee your previous lesson time with the same instructor will be available should you return to taking lessons at our school.

Music Box reserves the right to discontinue instruction to any student who does not agree to adhere to school policies or whose behavior is determined to be disruptive or inappropriate. In such cases the student is still responsible for tuition payment through the end of the month and no refunds will be issued.

Please do not solicit Music Box educators for lessons outside of our school. All educators are under a strict contract with us and may not offer lessons to Music Box students outside of the school. Those educators who are in breach of these terms, will be terminated.

Safety and Security

Parents/guardians:

  • If your child is less than 8 years old, you are required to remain at the school during their lesson time.

  • To ensure your child's safety, you must pick them up promptly at their lesson end time. Faculty and staff are not responsible for supervising children outside of the designated teaching time.

You are welcome to stay at the school during your child’s lesson in a designated waiting area. We are a firearm, weapon, and smoke free facility.

We love animals, but to respect students and visitors with severe animal allergies, pets are not allowed on our premises.

Food and drinks are allowed in the waiting and break room areas only, never in the classroom or around instruments or equipment.

Frequent hand washing is encouraged and may be required before and after each lesson.

Security cameras are installed throughout the facility, in every instruction area, for continuous surveillance. Motion sensors and a security system are on site and functional at all times.

Most up-to-date fire, smoke and CO detecting equipment, as well as multiple fire extinguishers have been installed throughout the facility.

Emergency exits at the back of the building have been inspected and are in great working condition. Evacuation plan is posted in designated areas. The closest fire station is located 0.5 miles away.

There are no trained medical or CPR professionals on our staff. We do not administer medicine.

Music Box Inc is fully committed to safeguarding and protecting everyone on the premises of the school. All staff members, including educators, undergo thorough background checks before they get hired.

Our safety policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and optimized for safer working practice across all parts of our business.
